In light of this status quo, I can not describe my amazement at the reality that began to emerge after the polls closed: the berluscones found themselves suddenly broken by the kidneys, and the gradual conquest Nuoro 'Ogliastra, even succeeding against all odds, to confirm the guidance of the capital. In short, the center-left Sardinia has lived the classic "paradox of Christopher Columbus" Party of India in search of a defeat content was found to celebrate the wonders of America's unexpected triumph.
However, while the newly elected regional government may have to sink into the abyss of scandals hatched by the "clique" grew up in the shadow of Roman Palazzo Grazioli, I must point out that this victory for me is characterized by a different flavor than the other successes that have marked the history of the Italian left of the last fifteen years: slightly bitter taste that comes from awareness and incomplete that it can not go beyond the classic sigh of relief that I left when I learned that, at least this time, "lost the worst."
What has been lacking so this victory over the wonderful ride that, in 1996, had dragged the Olive Tree government of the country, compared to the overwhelming Renato Soru statement of 2004, compared even to the endless night of 10 April 2006, when Romano Prodi was assured for the second time the chair of Prime Minister's office?
Simple: it lacked the participation of the people, is not the enthusiasm that comes from being part of a joint is no particular empathy between representatives and represented under which the victory of one can not but be interpreted as a victory of others. In other words, in 1996, 2004 and 2006, won by a people leader. Not today: the leaders have won today without the people.
deserting en masse the ballot, supporters of the Democratic simply because they have not been shown to prefer the beach to the seat, but wanted to give a signal that can not be ignored: a sign of tiredness to a ruling class perceived as distant and self-damned, a signal of discomfort with a policy that does not assist in the needs and requests, a sign of distress to their status as exiles in a strange land of post-ideological and anti-ideological, of donors who votes regularly forced to make against the wall decreased the oplites sent from Arcore Berlusconi to assure control of his personal retreat August.
The consequences that this situation are likely to generate in the sight of all: the parties - the lost function of their institutional chain of connection between institutions and society - are rapidly becoming the size of "shell" suitable only as a buffer internal conflicts, and outline the balance of power, the active militancy is reduced now to only exercise the right to vote in the outcome of decision making is often taken for granted; programs are gradually being supplanted by the network slogan shot by supporters of the current one rather than another, leaders and candidates are always most often described as a general without troops, unable to warm the hearts of a liquefied base.
So here, once disposed of the euphoria of post-vote, the directors elected last week will be called upon to perform a task that goes far beyond the usual references to good governance of the territory and of the purposes of renewal occurred in election campaign: they must return the desire to participate in this vast slice of voters who expressed their confidence through the mass abstention. In recognition of the fact that, if this time included the prospect of a defeat concealed the El Dorado of a resounding victory, usually for a political force not supported by the participation of its base, the paradox of Columbus works in reverse, turning the mirage of an all-American success in the overwhelming reality of a disastrous defeat on the shores of the poor India. And then, even the call to mobilize against the march of the "clique" Berlusconi may not be enough to pierce the gray of the many sad Sunday that seem destined to shape the future of progressive skeptical.
