"'S 'LIFE IN PD?" THE COUNTRY OFFICE-axis ARCORE PONTIDA

"There is life in PD?" Wondered Marco Travaglio and Antonio Padellaro in two recently published an interesting editorial on "The Fact Daily," "C 'is life in PD? ", wondered the Democratic supporters of the area who witnessed shocked and outraged the live television broadcast of the debate on the motion of no-confidence filed against the Secretary Caliendo.

While Franceschini completed its bell'intervento - in which, for once, the true progressive aggravation of the opposition prevailed on questionable tactics dictated by the various demands of real politik - most quickly drowned in a mad whirl of sockets away and genuflections, crises of conscience and barrel stage, conversions and abstentions, killer looks and greetings Romans. The Knight's ashen expression quickly dispersed the last drop of gall in the words of distilled Cicchitto: the story is finished, the mask has fallen. Berlusconi appears to Italians for what it is: un vecchio caudillo del tutto indifferente al triste destino che attende un Paese allo sbando.

Dinanzi ad un simile status quo, l’atteggiamento del centro-sinistra dovrebbe essere ispirato da un unico slogan: il Governo ha fallito, si proceda con le elezioni anticipate così da aprire agli uomini di Bersani le porte di Palazzo Chigi. Invece, nelle dichiarazioni dei principali leader democratici, ecco prendere corpo l’ipotesi di un governo tecnico o di transizione, di un “Esecutivo di responsabilità” capace di fronteggiare l’emergenza. Le argomentazioni individuate a fondamento della posizione appena espressa sono apparentemente inattaccabili: la particolare congiuntura economica non può be addressed by a Government not in full possession of his duties, in addition, the reform of the electoral law is the prerequisite to prevent the perverse mechanisms "porcellum" lead to a substantial distortion of the will of the voters.

There is still life in the PD, the life in which to propose to the voters an alternative model to that summarized in the mantra of "ghe think I"?

Despite a commendable effort on some specific issues of economic policy, the Democratic Party continues to pay the choice to put in the hands of the same Di Pietro Fini and an exclusive monopoly of those subjects that have always been the " ground di caccia” del Cavaliere: la lotta al conflitto di interessi (argomento ormai pericolosamente caduto in desuetudine); la difesa dei valori della legalità e dell’indipendenza della Magistratura contro gli attacchi sferrata da parte del potere politico; la costante affermazione dell’attualità della questione morale e la declinazione di una concezione rigorosamente “etica” della politica.

La decisione di favorire l’ascesa del centrista Michele Vietti alla vicepresidenza del CSM - e la correlativa rinuncia ad imporre alle altre forze di opposizione la candidatura di personalità del calibro di Valerio Onida, Gustavo Zagrebelsky, Francesco Saverio Borrelli o Franco Cordero – è in questo senso indicativa delle difficoltà incontrate dal principale partito del centro-sinistra italiano nel rimarcare la contrapposizione in essere tra il Paese legale ed il Paese illegale, tra il Paese della trasparenza ed il Paese delle cricche e dei comitati di affari, tra il Paese della Costituzione ed il Paese dell’Uomo solo al Comando.

Ma allora: c’è ancora vita nel PD? Forse, e in ogni caso bisogna credere che ce ne sia: se – abbandonando una volta per sempre pulsioni nuoviste e sterili riferimenti al moderatismo - il PD saprà mobilitare tutto l’elettorato progressista attorno a quei valori di eguaglianza, etica pubblica e giustizia sociale che da sempre costituiscono il DNA of the Italian left, then the alternative to Berlusconi will no longer appear as a vague dream. There is still life in the PD: it is the legal life of the country that wants to override the cries of war, the Romans greetings on acts of faith and through obscurity proliferated under the axle Arcore - Pontida.
